Dr. Darren Treasure - Biography


Dr. Treasure resides in Portland, Oregon where he is the High Performance Director for Nike's Oregon Project. Darren earned a Masters and Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a specialization in sport psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has served as a faculty member at the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and Arizona State University where he held an Associate Professor appointment in the Department of Kinesiology and Psychology. He has published over 50 scientific articles and book chapters and made over 100 presentations worldwide on motivation and the psychology of peak performance including keynote presentations at conferences in France, Finland, Norway, and the UK.


Darren works with individuals and organizations dedicated to world class performance with his past and present clients including sport national governing bodies and federations (e.g., USSF, FIFA, NCAA, NFHS), professional teams, coach associations and athletes in a variety of sports (e.g., NFL, MLB, LPGA, NSCAA, and English Premier League). He has had the opportunity to work with Olympic, World and NCAA national champions and all-American athletes and teams at a number of different Universities. From 2005-2009 Darren was the lead consultant on a high performance initiative in the athletic department at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Treasure is also the author of the National Federation of State High School Associations coach education program launched in 2007.
