Teachable Moments

As in education and in life, we are provided opportunities to learn lessons of great value through athletics. A Teachable Moment is a moment of educational opportunity when a person is disposed to learn something or is particularly responsive to being taught or made aware of something.

"When the body is ripe, and society requires, and the self is ready to achieve a certain task, the teachable moment has come." (HAVIGHURST, ROBERT J. 1953. Human Development and Education. New York: McKay.).
